How to do it
Sit in the lever shoulder press machine with your back against the pad and grip the handle on one side at shoulder height. Brace your core and press the handle straight up until your arm is extended, then lower it under control back to shoulder level. Repeat, then switch sides.
- 1Your shoulder and triceps driving the handle overhead
- 2Your core bracing to keep your torso square against the pad
- 3A controlled lower until you feel a stretch at the shoulder
Common mistakes
- Leaning or twisting toward the working side
- Arching your back off the pad to push the weight
- Letting the handle drop fast instead of lowering it
