How to do it
Hold the weight at shoulder level with your elbows under your wrists. Brace your core and press the weight overhead until your arms are fully extended. Lower the weight back to your shoulders in a controlled manner.
- 1Stand on the band and hold the ends at your shoulders; press overhead while keeping your ribs down, feeling your shoulders and triceps work against the band tension
- 2Engage your core and glutes to maintain a solid base and balanced stance
- 3At full extension, your biceps should be by your ears and you should feel stable and strong overhead
Common mistakes
- Don't let the band pull you forward or lean backward excessively
- Avoid flaring your elbows out wide or shrugging your shoulders toward your ears
- Don't rush through the press; focus on controlled, even tension
