How to do it
Sit or stand holding an EZ bar at shoulder height with a close, angled grip on the inner bends. Press the bar overhead until your arms are fully extended, keeping your core braced and ribs down. Lower the bar under control back to shoulder height.
- 1Feel your shoulders and triceps drive the bar straight overhead
- 2Keep your core tight so your lower back doesn't take over
- 3Control the bar down to shoulder level on every rep
Common mistakes
- Don't arch your lower back to push the weight up
- Avoid pressing the bar forward instead of straight up
- Don't shrug your shoulders up toward your ears
