How to do it
Stand tall holding a dumbbell in one hand with your palm facing your thigh and a slight bend in your elbow. Brace your core and raise the dumbbell straight out in front of you to shoulder height, keeping your wrist neutral. Lower under control to the start, finish your reps, then switch arms.
- 1Feel your front delt lift the weight to shoulder height
- 2Keep your core braced and shoulder down as you raise
- 3Control the lowering instead of dropping the weight
Common mistakes
- Don't swing your torso or lift above shoulder level
- Avoid shrugging or leaning back to get the weight up
- Don't lock your elbow; keep a soft bend throughout
