How to do it
Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand at your sides. Raise both arms out to the sides to shoulder height, lower them, then raise both arms straight in front of you to shoulder height and lower. Alternate the lateral raise and the front raise each rep, keeping a slight bend in the elbows.

Common mistakes
- Do not swing your arms or lift higher than shoulder level
- Avoid shrugging your shoulders or leaning back to raise the weight
- Do not lock your elbows; keep a soft bend the whole set
