How to do it
Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand against your thighs, palms facing in. Dip slightly at the knees and use a small leg drive to start the lift as you raise both dumbbells straight in front to shoulder height, then lower under control.
- 1Front of your shoulders working as the dumbbells reach shoulder height
- 2A small leg drive starting the lift, not a full swing
- 3Controlled lowering with a slight bend kept in the elbows
Common mistakes
- Heaving the weight up with your whole body or arching back
- Lifting past shoulder height or shrugging the traps
- Locking the elbows or letting the dumbbells drop fast
