How to do it
Stand tall holding a weight plate in each hand by gripping the edges, arms down at your sides. Raise the plates out to the sides until your arms reach shoulder height, keeping a slight bend in your elbows, then lower under control. Lead with your elbows, not your hands.
- 1Your side delts burning as you lift to shoulder height
- 2A slight elbow bend with your elbows leading the lift
- 3Control on the way down, resisting gravity
Common mistakes
- Swinging your body or using momentum
- Shrugging your shoulders up toward your ears
- Raising the plates above shoulder height
