How to do it
Set the treadmill to a brisk walking speed and raise the incline to a challenging grade. Walk tall with a natural arm swing, pushing through your whole foot on each step. Let go of the handrails so your legs and glutes do the work over the set duration.
- 1Feel your glutes and calves drive each step up the incline
- 2Push through the ball of your foot and stay tall through your torso
- 3Keep a steady rhythm and breathe evenly with the effort
Common mistakes
- Do not hold the handrails or lean back into them
- Avoid short choppy steps; keep a full natural stride
- Do not hunch forward at the waist as the grade climbs
