How to do it
Stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart and fists up by your chin. Punch up toward an imaginary top corner target, rotating through your trunk and extending the arm fully, then snap the fist back to guard and alternate sides.
- 1Rotation coming from your trunk and hips, not just the arm
- 2Shoulders and triceps firing as the punch extends
- 3Core bracing to control the twist each rep
Common mistakes
- Reaching with the arm while the body stays still
- Letting the opposite hand drop away from guard
- Locking out the elbow hard at the top
Muscles worked
The standing top corner punch mainly works the obliques and front delts, with the triceps, upper abs, lower abs, and side delts assisting.
