How to do it
Set an incline bench under a Smith machine bar and lie back with a narrow overhand grip. Unrack the bar and lower it toward your forehead by bending only at the elbows, then press it back along the fixed track to lockout.
- 1Feel the triceps stretch as the bar lowers toward your forehead
- 2Keep your upper arms fixed and let the bar track guide the path
- 3Drive through the triceps to lock the bar back out
Common mistakes
- Don't let your elbows flare out away from your head
- Avoid moving your upper arms to recruit the shoulders
- Don't lower so fast you lose control on the fixed track
