How to do it
Kneel or stand beside a roll ball and rest your forearm and elbow on top of it with your arm overhead. Let your chest sink toward the floor so the ball rolls your arm back, feeling the stretch travel through the back of your upper arm and down your side into the lats. Hold, breathing steadily, then switch sides.
- 1The long head of your triceps lengthening as your arm reaches overhead
- 2A stretch down the side of your torso and into the lats
- 3Your ribs staying down and neck relaxed as you settle in
Common mistakes
- Pushing so far the shoulder feels pinched
- Flaring your ribs or overarching your lower back to fake range
- Bouncing on the ball instead of holding a steady stretch
