How to do it
Place a massage ball under your calf while seated with your leg extended, or against a wall with the ball of your foot pressed in. Lean your weight onto the ball and slowly roll along the calf, pausing on tight spots to let the tissue release.
- 1A gentle pull and release along your calf and Achilles
- 2Firm pressure that gradually softens as you hold
- 3The tension melting out of the tightest spots
Common mistakes
- Do not bounce or jam the ball into the muscle
- Avoid pressing directly on the bone or the back of the knee
- Do not rush; let each spot release before moving on
