How to do it
Stand on the center of a resistance band and hold the ends at shoulder height with your elbows under your wrists. Brace your core and press your hands overhead until your arms lock out, then lower back to your shoulders under control.
- 1Your shoulders and triceps working against the band tension as you press
- 2Your core and glutes bracing for a solid base
- 3A stable, locked-out overhead position with biceps near your ears
Common mistakes
- Letting the band pull you forward or leaning back to compensate
- Flaring your elbows wide or shrugging toward your ears
- Rushing the press instead of keeping even, controlled tension
Muscles worked
