How to do it

Sit or stand at a unilateral lever row machine and grasp one handle with your chest against the pad. Pull the handle back toward your hip by driving your elbow behind you and squeezing your shoulder blade in. Lower under control to a full stretch and repeat, then switch sides.

  1. 1Feel your lat and mid-back pull the handle toward your hip
  2. 2Drive your elbow back and squeeze your shoulder blade in
  3. 3Keep your chest on the pad and torso square through the row

Common mistakes

  • Do not shrug your shoulder or flare your elbow out wide
  • Avoid twisting your torso to yank the weight back
  • Do not let the weight snap your arm straight; control the return
