How to do it
Sit in the lever pulldown machine with your thigh pad snug and grip the wide handle with one hand, arm extended overhead. Pull the handle down toward your shoulder by driving your elbow down and back, squeezing your lat, then control the handle slowly back to the stretched position. Repeat, then switch sides.
- 1Your lat engaging on the working side as you pull the handle down
- 2The movement starting from your shoulder blade dropping, then the elbow bending
- 3A full stretch through the lat at the top of each rep
Common mistakes
- Leaning back or twisting your torso to move the weight
- Yanking with your biceps instead of driving the elbow down
- Letting the handle snap back up out of control
