How to do it
Sit at the row machine and grip one handle with your chest against the pad and arm extended forward. Pull the handle back toward your side, driving your elbow past your ribs and squeezing your shoulder blade toward your spine. Control the handle back to a full stretch and finish your reps before switching arms.
- 1Lat on the working side contracting as you pull the elbow back
- 2Shoulder blade squeezing toward your spine at the end of the pull
- 3A full stretch through the lat as you extend the arm forward
Common mistakes
- Twisting your torso to heave the weight back
- Shrugging your shoulder up toward your ear
- Cutting the stretch short instead of fully extending the arm
