How to do it
Sit at a plate-loaded high row machine and grip the handles with an underhand, palms-up grip, arms extended forward and up. Pull the handles down and back toward your upper ribs by driving your elbows down and behind you, then return under control to a full stretch. The reverse grip biases the lower lats and brings the biceps in more.
- 1Lats and upper back working as you drive your elbows down and back
- 2Underhand grip pulling the load toward your lower ribs
- 3Biceps assisting more than with an overhand grip
Common mistakes
- Shrugging or rocking your torso to move the weight
- Cutting the range short instead of reaching a full stretch
- Yanking with momentum rather than a smooth pull
Muscles worked
The plate loaded lever reverse grip high row mainly works the lats, biceps, and mid traps, with the forearms and rear delts assisting.
