How to do it

Sit on the leverage machine with your back flat against the pad and your feet anchored. Extend your spine to push the pad backward, driving through your lower back and hips, then return to the start under control.

  1. 1Press your back into the pad so you feel your lower back and glutes
  2. 2contract
  3. 3Keep a neutral spine and let the movement originate from your hips
  4. 4Use a smooth, deliberate tempo through the full range

Common mistakes

  • Do not hyperextend or snap your spine backward
  • Avoid rounding your shoulders or slumping at the start
  • Do not rely on momentum; control the weight throughout
