How to do it

Attach a single handle to a low pulley. Stand facing away from the cable machine, holding the handle in one hand. Raise your arm straight in front of you to shoulder height, keeping it straight, then slowly lower it back down. Switch arms after completing the set.

  1. 1Stand facing away from the machine and raise the handle straight in front of you to shoulder height; you should feel your front delts working
  2. 2Keep a slight bend in your elbow and your palm facing down
  3. 3Engage your core and keep your shoulders down as you lift and lower with control

Common mistakes

  • Don't swing the weight or use momentum to get it up
  • Avoid lifting above shoulder height or locking out your elbow
  • Don't shrug your shoulders or lean back during the raise
