How to do it
Lie on a flat bench holding an EZ bar with a close grip on the angled bends, arms extended over your chest. Lower the bar in a path between a press and an extension, letting your elbows travel forward as the bar drops toward your upper chest and neck, keeping your forearms close. Press back up by extending your elbows and squeeze your triceps at the top.
- 1Feel your triceps load heavily as the bar lowers toward your neck
- 2Keep your elbows tracking forward and forearms tucked close
- 3Drive the bar up by extending your elbows, not flaring out
Common mistakes
- Don't let your elbows flare wide like a standard bench press
- Avoid bouncing the bar off your chest or throat area
- Don't lift your hips off the bench to push the weight
