How to do it

Lie on your back with one foot flat on the floor and a dumbbell held across that hip. Extend the other leg, then push through your planted foot to lift your hips, squeezing your glute at the top. Lower under control and finish your reps before switching sides.

  1. 1Drive through your heel and squeeze the working glute at the top
  2. 2Keep your core braced so your hips stay level
  3. 3Move with control instead of bouncing the hips up

Common mistakes

  • Do not let the working-side hip drop or rotate open
  • Avoid arching your lower back to gain height
  • Do not rush the reps or use momentum
