How to do it
Lie flat on a bench holding a single dumbbell in one hand straight above your chest. Bend that elbow to lower the dumbbell beside your head, then extend your arm to press it back up, keeping the upper arm fixed. Finish your reps, then switch hands.
- 1Feel a stretch in the triceps as you lower the dumbbell beside your head
- 2Extend the elbow to press the weight back up and squeeze at the top
- 3Keep the upper arm stationary and your core engaged for stability
Common mistakes
- Do not flare your elbow or move at the shoulder joint
- Avoid dropping the dumbbell too far behind your head
