How to do it
Hold a dumbbell in one hand and step that side's leg back and across behind you into a curtsey lunge. As you rise, raise the dumbbell out to the side to shoulder height, then lower and switch sides, passing the dumbbell to the other hand.
- 1Feel your glutes and outer hip load as you sink into the curtsey lunge
- 2Drive up through the front heel and raise the dumbbell to shoulder height with your side delt
- 3Keep your core braced and torso tall through the whole rep
Common mistakes
- Don't let your front knee cave inward in the lunge
- Avoid shrugging your shoulder up as you raise the dumbbell
- Don't swing the weight; lift it with control
