How to do it
Face a wall and place your hands on it slightly below shoulder height, then walk your feet back and push your hips up into a downward-dog angle so your torso leans toward the wall. Bend your elbows to lower the crown of your head toward the wall, then press back up. The steeper your lean, the more your shoulders work.
- 1Feel your shoulders and triceps drive you away from the wall
- 2Keep your hips high so the load stays on your shoulders
- 3Press your hands firmly into the wall and keep your core tight
Common mistakes
- Don't let your hips drop and turn it into a flat push
- Avoid flaring your elbows wide; keep them tracking over your hands
- Don't shrug your shoulders up toward your ears
Muscles worked
