How to do it

Set a cable pulley to the lowest position and stand facing away from or beside the stack, holding the handle in one hand with your arm down by your side. Keeping your arm straight with a slight bend in the elbow, raise the handle in front of you to shoulder height, then lower it under control.

  1. 1Feel your front delt drive the handle up to shoulder height
  2. 2Keep constant tension on the cable through the full range
  3. 3Brace your core and keep your shoulder pulled down

Common mistakes

  • Don't swing the handle up with body momentum
  • Avoid shrugging or leaning back to lift the weight
  • Don't raise the handle above shoulder height
