How to do it

Stand in a boxing stance with your dominant foot back and hands up protecting your face. Begin throwing punches, jabs, crosses, hooks and uppercuts, into the air while moving around in your stance. Shift your weight between your feet, pivot on your toes and practice head movement as you would in a fight. Keep your guard up, engage your core and breathe rhythmically while you shadow box.

  1. 1Feel your shoulders, arms, and core working as you throw punches with speed and precision
  2. 2Keep your feet moving and maintain a light bounce for agility
  3. 3Engage your hips and rotate your torso for power

Common mistakes

  • Avoid locking your elbows at full extension; keep a slight bend
  • Don't drop your hands after punching; return to guard position
  • Avoid holding your breath; breathe with each combination
