How to do it

Stand with your back against a wall, feet a few inches out, arms at your sides with the backs of your hands on the wall. Keeping your arms in contact with the wall, sweep them out and up overhead in a wide circle, then back down the same arc. Move slowly and keep your low back from arching off the wall.

  1. 1Keep your arms tracing the wall through the full circle
  2. 2Feel your shoulders work to keep contact overhead
  3. 3Brace your core so your low back stays flat against the wall

Common mistakes

  • Don't let your low back arch away from the wall
  • Avoid forcing your arms flat if your shoulders won't allow it yet
  • Don't shrug your shoulders up to your ears
