How to do it
Stand tall facing a wall with both hands resting on it for support. Keeping one leg straight, lift it back and up behind you by squeezing the glute, then lower it under control. Keep your torso upright and avoid arching the lower back to gain height.
- 1Your glute squeezing to drive the leg back and up
- 2Your hamstring assisting as the straight leg lifts behind you
- 3A tall torso with the movement coming from the hip
Common mistakes
- Arching your lower back to swing the leg higher
- Leaning your chest into the wall as you lift
- Bending the working knee instead of keeping the leg straight
