How to do it
Lie flat on your back with your legs extended and together. Raise both legs toward the ceiling, then spread them apart into a wide V before bringing them back together at the top and lowering slowly without touching the floor. Keep your lower back pressed down throughout.
- 1Feel your lower abs lifting your straight legs
- 2Feel your inner thighs control the V as the legs spread and close
- 3Keep your lower back pinned to the floor for tension
Common mistakes
- Avoid arching your back; reduce range if it lifts
- Don't swing your legs; move deliberately
- Avoid straining your neck; keep your head down
Muscles worked
The v leg raise mainly works the hip flexors and lower abs, with the upper abs, obliques, glutes, and adductors assisting.
