How to do it

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees and hips to load, then explode upward, extending through your ankles, knees and hips. Land softly with knees slightly bent to absorb the impact.

  1. 1Stand inside the trap bar and perform an explosive jump, feeling your quads, glutes, and calves drive the movement
  2. 2Hold the handles securely and extend through your hips and knees simultaneously
  3. 3Land softly with knees slightly bent to absorb the impact and reset between jumps

Common mistakes

  • Don't overload the bar beyond a weight you can control explosively
  • Avoid landing on stiff legs or letting your knees collapse inward
  • Don't round your back; maintain a strong posture through takeoff and landing
