How to do it
Set the TRX handles to mid-shin height and grip one in each hand with arms extended and body in a straight plank. Lower your chest between the handles by bending your elbows, then press back up while fighting to keep the straps from swaying. The unstable handles force your chest and core to work harder than a floor push-up.
- 1Feel your chest, shoulders, and triceps drive you up off the handles
- 2Brace your core hard to stop the straps from drifting apart
- 3Squeeze your shoulder blades and press through a full range
Common mistakes
- Do not let your hips sag or your head crane forward
- Avoid flaring your elbows wide; keep them near 45 degrees
- Do not let the handles swing; control them on every rep
Muscles worked
The suspender push-up mainly works the mid chest, with the triceps, upper chest, lower chest, upper abs, front delts, forearms, lower abs, and obliques assisting.
