How to do it
Step one foot back into a short stance, then explosively drive that knee up and forward toward your chest as you come tall. Step back and repeat for reps, then switch sides, keeping a quick, punchy tempo.
- 1Hip flexors snapping the knee up
- 2Glutes driving you tall on each thrust
- 3A tight core absorbing the drive
Common mistakes
- Hunching forward as the knee comes up
- Letting the movement go soft and slow
- Losing balance on the supporting leg
Muscles worked
The step knee thrust mainly works the hip flexors, with the lower abs, quads, glutes, obliques, hamstrings, and calves assisting.
