How to do it
Stand tall and lift one knee to hip height in front of you. Keeping the knee raised, rotate your thigh outward and across horizontally, opening the hip to the side, then bring it back to center. Keep your standing leg stable and your torso upright throughout the movement.
- 1Feel the rotation come from your hip, not your back
- 2Feel your glute and hip flexor control the open and close
- 3Keep your standing-side core tight for balance
Common mistakes
- Don't twist your lower back to move the leg
- Avoid letting your torso lean or sway to compensate
- Don't rush; keep the hip rotation slow and controlled
