How to do it
Stand tall holding a wall or rail for balance and lift one knee toward your chest. Slowly draw the biggest circle you can with that knee, opening it out to the side, rotating it back, and returning to the front, all under deliberate control. Reverse the direction.
- 1The hip joint working through its full range under control
- 2Your standing leg and core staying tall and stable
- 3Active tension in the moving hip the entire circle
Common mistakes
- Letting the torso twist or lean to make the circle bigger
- Rushing through the range instead of moving slowly
- Losing balance and turning it into a swing
