How to do it

Stand or kneel and let your upper body fold forward, reaching your hands toward the floor while letting your back round gently. Let gravity pull your torso down through the slope of the stretch until you feel length across your back. Hold and breathe, then roll up slowly.

  1. 1Feel your back and shoulders lengthen as you fold forward
  2. 2Let your head and arms hang heavy
  3. 3Breathe into the stretch and relax further on each exhale

Common mistakes

  • Do not force the reach if your hamstrings cramp
  • Avoid bouncing toward the floor
  • Do not snap back up; roll up one vertebra at a time

Muscles worked
