How to do it
Hang from a bar or rings with an overhand grip. Tuck your knees and pull them toward your chest to roll your hips over the bar, extending your legs overhead. Continue rotating your body backward by straightening your arms and allowing your legs to pass through between your arms until you lower into an inverted German hang with your arms behind you. Reverse the movement by pulling with your abs and shoulders to return your legs back through and lower into an upright hang. Move slowly and control each phase.
- 1Feel your shoulders and core controlling your rotation through the rings or bar
- 2Engage your lats and grip to pull yourself back through the bottom position
- 3Keep your legs engaged and pointed to maintain tension
Common mistakes
- Avoid dropping too quickly into the inverted hang; move cautiously
- Don't let your shoulders relax; keep them active and safe
- Avoid letting go of the false grip if you're on rings; maintain control
