How to do it

Stand tall and bring one arm across the front of your body with a slight bend in the elbow. Hold that wrist with your opposite hand near hip height, then slowly straighten and guide the arm outward and upward until you feel a stretch through the back of the shoulder, lat, and forearm. Hold, then switch sides.

  1. 1The stretch starting in the side of your back and lat as the arm pulls
  2. 2across and up
  3. 3Tension through the rear shoulder and forearm as the elbow straightens
  4. 4A smooth pull, just enough for a clean stretch

Common mistakes

  • Yanking hard on the wrist or jamming the shoulder
  • Twisting your torso or shrugging for more range
  • Forcing the elbow fully straight if it turns sharp
