How to do it

Stand tall, then sweep both arms overhead while raising one leg straight out to the side. Return to the start and repeat, alternating legs in a jumping-jack cadence. Keep your torso upright and lift from the outer hip.

  1. 1Outer hip and glute working as the leg lifts to the side
  2. 2Upright posture without leaning away from the working leg
  3. 3A smooth jack rhythm with the arms

Common mistakes

  • Don't lean your torso to hike the leg higher
  • Avoid turning the toe up; keep the foot neutral
  • Don't let the leg swing with momentum
