How to do it
Sit tall with your shoulders relaxed and your gaze level. Draw your chin straight back, as if making a double chin, lengthening the back of your neck. Hold briefly, then release and repeat.
- 1Feel the front-of-neck muscles engage as the chin draws back
- 2Keep your head level, gliding straight back rather than tilting
- 3Sense your neck lengthen tall out of your shoulders
Common mistakes
- Don't tip your head down or up; glide it straight back
- Avoid jamming the chin hard into your throat
- Don't let your shoulders shrug or round forward
Muscles worked
The seated chin tuck mainly works the upper traps.
