How to do it

Set a pair of gymnastic rings at about waist height and support yourself with arms locked straight and shoulders down. Engage your core and lift both legs out in front of you, spreading them wide into a straddle so they are roughly parallel to the floor. Hold the straddle L-sit while keeping your arms locked and the rings steady. Lower your legs with control to finish.

  1. 1Your hip flexors and core holding your legs up in the straddle
  2. 2Your shoulders and triceps stabilizing your locked arms
  3. 3Your shoulders staying down and away from your ears

Common mistakes

  • Bending your knees or letting your legs drop
  • Shrugging your shoulders up toward your ears
  • Arching your lower back instead of staying tucked
