How to do it
Anchor a resistance band at elbow height and stand sideways to it, holding the band with the hand farthest from the anchor. Tuck that elbow against your side and bend it to 90 degrees. Keeping the elbow pinned to your waist, rotate your forearm outward away from your body until you feel a squeeze in the back of your shoulder, then return with control. Switch arms after your set.
- 1The rotator cuff muscles working to control the rotation
- 2Your elbow staying pinned tight against your side
- 3A smooth, pain-free arc as the forearm rotates out
Common mistakes
- Letting your elbow drift away from your side
- Twisting your torso to move a band that is too heavy
- Rushing the reps instead of rotating slowly
