How to do it

Clip a rope attachment to a low pulley. Stand facing away from the machine with the rope between your legs and grasp an end in each hand. Step forward to create tension. Plant your feet shoulder-width apart and soften your knees. Hinge at your hips, letting the rope pull your hands back through your legs until your torso is nearly parallel to the floor. Keep your back flat. Drive your hips forward and stand tall, squeezing your glutes at the top. Repeat for the desired reps.

  1. 1Feel your hamstrings and glutes stretch as you hinge at the hips and the cable pulls between your legs
  2. 2Engage your core and keep your chest up to support your spine
  3. 3Squeeze your glutes hard at the top as you drive your hips forward

Common mistakes

  • Avoid rounding your back; hinge from the hips
  • Don't let your knees lock out or shift weight to your toes
  • Avoid pulling with your arms; the power comes from your hips
