How to do it

Stand on the edge of a raised platform or use a donkey calf raise machine. Raise your heels as high as possible, then lower them below the platform level.

  1. 1Feel a deep contraction in your calves as you lift your heels while bent at the hips
  2. 2Keep your knees slightly bent and focus on the squeeze
  3. 3Lower slowly to maximize stretch at the bottom

Common mistakes

  • Avoid bouncing or jerking the weight
  • Don't allow your ankles to roll; push through the balls of your feet evenly
  • Avoid rounding your back; maintain a neutral spine
