How to do it
Sit in the rotation machine with your torso secured against the pads and grip the handles or cross your arms over the chest pad. Brace your core and rotate your trunk against the resistance, turning to one side under control. Return to center smoothly and complete your reps, then reset the machine to work the other direction.
- 1Your obliques driving the rotation against the pad
- 2Your hips and lower body staying locked and still
- 3A controlled turn with no jerking through the range
Common mistakes
- Using momentum or your arms to wrench the weight around
- Letting your hips rotate instead of isolating your trunk
- Snapping back to center instead of resisting the return
Muscles worked
The lever trunk rotation mainly works the obliques, with the upper abs, lower abs, and lower back assisting.
