How to do it

Set up on a leverage step machine with your feet on the platforms and hands on the supports. Drive one foot down to press the platform while the other rises, then alternate legs in a steady stepping rhythm to keep your heart rate up.

  1. 1Quads and glutes driving each platform down
  2. 2A steady, rhythmic stepping cadence
  3. 3Tall posture with your core engaged throughout

Common mistakes

  • Leaning heavily on your arms to take load off your legs
  • Letting the platforms slam down instead of pressing them
  • Hunching over and collapsing your chest

Muscles worked

The lever step mainly works the quads and glutes, with the hamstrings and calves assisting.
