How to do it

Stand in the standing pec fly machine with your chest against the pad and forearms on the vertical arm pads. Drive the pads together in front of your chest using your pecs, squeeze at the midline, then let the arms open back out under control until you feel a stretch across the chest.

  1. 1Your chest contracting as the pads come together in front
  2. 2A squeeze through the pecs at the midline
  3. 3A controlled stretch across the chest as the arms open

Common mistakes

  • Letting the shoulders roll forward and round
  • Using a jerky motion instead of a smooth squeeze
  • Bouncing out of the stretch at the open position
