How to do it

Sit in the ab crunch machine with the pad against your chest and grip the handles. Crunch down by flexing your spine and contracting your abs, then return slowly without losing tension.

  1. 1A strong contraction through your entire abdominal wall
  2. 2Your spine flexing from the rib cage down, not your hips
  3. 3Your abs pulling the pad down rather than your arms

Common mistakes

  • Pulling with your arms instead of your abs
  • Initiating the movement from your hip flexors
  • Jerking through the reps or using momentum

Muscles worked

The lever seated crunch mainly works the upper abs and lower abs, with the obliques assisting.
