How to do it
Set up in a vertical hack squat machine facing the pad with the shoulder rests on your shoulders and feet flat on the platform. Lower by bending your knees and hips until your thighs are near parallel, then drive through your heels to push the platform back up without locking out.
- 1Quads and glutes loading hard as you push the platform up
- 2Back and shoulders pressed firmly into the pad the whole time
- 3Even drive through both heels on the way up
Common mistakes
- Letting your knees cave inward instead of tracking over your toes
- Lifting your hips or rounding your back off the pad
- Bouncing out of the bottom instead of controlling the descent
