How to do it
Sit at the preacher curl machine and turn your torso so your upper arm lies flat on the pad. Grip the handle and curl it toward you, squeezing your biceps at the top, then lower under control to a near-full stretch.
- 1An isolated contraction in your biceps as you curl the handle in
- 2A stretch at the bottom while keeping tension on the muscle
- 3Your upper arm staying pinned to the pad through the full range
Common mistakes
- Lifting your elbow off the pad or swinging to move the weight
- Cutting the range short; extend nearly fully each rep
- Bending your wrist backward or forward excessively
Muscles worked
The turned torso lever preacher curl mainly works the biceps, with the forearms assisting.
