How to do it
Sit on the pec deck machine with your back flat against the pad and forearms or hands against the wing pads at chest height. Squeeze the pads together in front of your chest in a wide arc, then return under control until you feel a stretch across your chest.
- 1Feel your chest contract as you bring the pads together in front of you
- 2Keep your back flat and elbows at chest height throughout the arc
- 3Hold the squeeze briefly at the center before letting the pads open
Common mistakes
- Don't let your shoulders roll forward or shrug toward your ears
- Avoid slamming the pads together or using momentum
- Don't overstretch at the bottom or let the weight yank your arms back
Muscles worked
